Using high frequency sound waves, an echocardiogram captures still and moving pictures of the heart with a small handheld transducer (camera) placed around the chest. It’s safe and pain-free. The images produced from an echocardiogram are used to assess how well the heart is pumping blood, as well as to identify heart disease.
Images are then reviewed by one of our radiologists for interpretation. Results are sent to your Health Care Provider and you will be able to discuss the results of your exam with them.
